On the west side of the fogou field (properly called 'Higher Way Field') is an area of Romano-British activity characterised by unusual curving gullies, hollows and pits.
One of the large, deep pits had been covered by a mound of stone and may have been a grave. Although no bones have been found, it's hoped that analysis of soil samples provides evidence of burial.
Here MAG members excavate the deposits around the Romano-British stone mound, finding sherds of pottery and worked stones dating to the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD.
