Boden Open Day - Saturday 14th September - 2024 - 11am - 4pm
On Saturday 14th September, MAG will be holding an open day at Boden, 11am-4pm. There will be tours of the site, including the ongoing excavation of a Bronze Age roundhouse (circa 1500 BC) and a chance to see the Fogou, including the restored entrance-way lintel.
The tour will also include a visit to the Romano-British features and grave site and a chance to see a range of the finds spanning around 2000 years of activity at Boden.
Harvey Parker will be giving flint knapping demonstrations, turning flint nodules into working flakes, tools, knives etc. He is a bit of an expert at this!
Tea, coffee and home-made cakes will be available to buy and there will be a pre-loved archaeology and history book stall for you to stock up on your autumn reading. Please bring cash for the refreshments and stalls and any welcome donations.
Entry is free, but we will be taking donations – archaeological excavations are expensive to run!
Sorry, no dogs allowed. The site is on uneven ground, so please wear sturdy footwear.
To find us, visit SatNav TR12 6EN,

and follow local signs.
Alternatively park in Manaccan – it’s a very pleasant walk of approx. 1 mile (around 20 minutes) and you can visit the pub on the way back!
Remember! The site is not normally open to the public – don’t miss this rare opportunity to see a real archaeological excavation in action and the unusual and unique fogou!
